Merry Christmas from all the library staff!

We’ve got a bumper blog post for you to dig into just before the festive season. We hope you take note and enjoy the journal recommendations.  Remember that all of the journals below can be found on the ground floor of the library.

The Garden December 2017

Virtual horticulture. P.50

Take a look at Robin Dwiar’s article which suggests that ‘videogames are a force for good, as they bring accurate visual depictions to virtual worlds’.

Fun fact about this article: Robin is a Writtle alumnus!

There’s plenty to read in the current issue of Prolandscaper. Our top picks are:

·        Design for health by Adam White. P.40. For some additional reading, try Green infrastructure and public health by Christopher Coutts. It’s available in the library at shelf mark 301.76/ COU.

·        Portfolio. p.53.

·        Beautiful Bark by Andy McIndoe. p.92.

·        Helping make a profit by Sam Hassall. pp. 100-101.

·        Changes in vegetation of two Essex salt marshes (2004-2016), Blackwater estuary, following managed coastal realignment. pp.188- 205

The article has been co-authored by WUC alumnus James Oliver and our very own John E. Morgan.

Landscape: the Journal of the Landscape Institute Winter 2017

·        Take a look at the Winners of winners segment on pp. 44-50. This features the prize winners of the 2017 LI Awards. Who impressed the judges this year?

·        Touching the imagination pp.53-59. Ruth Slavid’s feature focusses on designing a garden for children with autism. Slavid discusses Davies White who won three awards at the RHS Hampton Court flower show for presenting a project that should help improve understanding of designing for children with autism.
